About The Book

"Every year on a Saturday in late July, a symphony orchestra comes to Lakeside. Seventy-five musicians bring trumpets, flutes, drums, violins - all the instruments of the orchestra - and Lakeside fills with music."

Written by Lakeside Symphony flutist Amy Heritage and richly illustrated by artist Eleanor A. Hutton, The Lakeside Symphony Comes to Town is an affectionate portrayal of the musicians of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra and the town that is their summer home. Lakesiders and music lovers young and old will treasure this playful story about the musicians of the orchestra who come together each summer at Lakeside Chautauqua on the shores of Lake Erie.

Proceeds from sales of The Lakeside Symphony Comes to Town benefit the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra.

About The Author

Author Amy Heritage joined the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra as principal flutist in 2002. She returns to Lakeside each summer, bringing with her an ever-widening circle of extended family.

Like many Lakesiders, Amy often finds herself telling the story of this special place to those who have never visited. Amy is grateful to her friend, Toledo artist Eleanor Hutton, whose watercolor images beautifully depict this town of sunshine, nostalgia, families, and music. Amy hopes their book will bring new visitors to Lakeside and to Lakeside Symphony concerts. For those who already love Lakeside, Amy hopes the book will be a memento to treasure during long winter months as they count down the days to another summer at the lake.

When she is not at Lakeside Chautauqua, Amy lives in Toledo, Ohio with her husband and son and their dogs Maggie and Lucy. She plays flute in the Toledo Symphony, an orchestra with its own stories and history.
